JERRY SODORFF
Photographer of the Images of Life
Art has always been a part of my life. At the age of 10, I began experimenting with ceramics, painting, sketching, and other assorted arts & crafts. My interest continued through high school, during which my focus changed to graphic design and architecture.
While studying architecture my passion for photography began. During my first year I needed to complete a study of textures. Instead of submitting a sketchbook of textures, I submitted a portfolio of textures in black and white.
I returned home - the Palouse Country of Eastern Washington - where the four seasons and rolling hills of farmland inspired much of my photography.
I am blessed with the ability to see things before they become reality - whether a building, a room, or an image.
My life experiences taught me to look for and capture images of life - the color, graphics, emotions and lines that let the viewer travel through the image.
My work begins with an IMAGE OF LIFE - some become PRINTS, POSTERS, NOTE CARDS and NOTE BOOKS. To others I add inspirational messages - those become THOUGHTSHOTS - or Spiritual messages - those become FAITHSHOTS.
We all walk by great images of life everyday - I just slow down to capture some! I typically look at life from all angles ... in fact from every possible angle. That carries into my photography. It is amazing how we overlook the beauty around us, simply because we look at it in the same way everyday.
My biggest tip to others ... look at your life from all angles.
